B&O RR museum on way to BWI?

We were thinking of stopping at the RR museum on our way from DC to BWI. Is it easy to walk from the Metro to the museum and back?

I%26#39;m a bit confused...Baltimore has a subway, but it doesn%26#39;t really go near the B%26amp;O museum, and it%26#39;s not commonly called ';the Metro';.

DC has a subway, commonly called ';Metro';, but it doesn%26#39;t go anywhere near Baltimore. The two cities are almost 40 miles apart.

How are you getting from Washington to BWI Airport?

I thought it was the Metro...did I mean the MARC? It%26#39;s a light rail system that goes from DC%26#39;s Union Station to BWI.

OK, now we%26#39;re getting warmer....:)

MARC is not light rail, it%26#39;s a commuter train to/from Maryland and Washington. So you can take MARC from DC to BWI Airport.

The Light Rail is another system entirely, it runs in and around Baltimore and surrounding counties, including a stop at BWI Airport.

So you won%26#39;t get to downtown Baltimore ';on your way'; from DC to BWI. But you could go to BWI on MARC and take the light rail from there to downtown Baltimore. But from there you%26#39;d have to walk through some ';not the best but not the worst either'; neighborhoods for a while to reach the railroad museum and then backtrack out to the airport again.

Or stay on the MARC into Baltimore and take a taxi from Penn Station to the railroad museum, but I have no idea what you%26#39;d do with luggage.

Bottom line is I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s going to be real easy or convenient to see the railraod museum as a ';side trip'; on your way to the airport.
