I hope I can get a ticket to an event the weekend of 1/31/09 in downtown Baltimore. I want to attend one of the Edgar Allen Poe events.
1) If I land at 10:30PM Friday night what are my food options as a vegetarian for downtown (Sheraton City Center on Lafayette) where I am staying? I don%26#39;t like chains so is there a local pizza place open late? Subs place open late? I can walk in a 2-3 block radius but wouldn%26#39;t go further. Prefer not order food to be delivered. I%26#39;ll be on west coast time wanting to sleep in.
2) I miss east coast subs and there are some listed on google in the area of Park Ave and Lafayette, which ones are the good ones for vegetarians and open on the weekends (lots of veggies, cheeses, oil %26amp; vinegar)
3) Is the lightrail recommended for late night or pre-dawn travel in and out of BWI?
Baltimore for Late January
I can at least answer question 3- the light rail would not be a viable option for you. They do not run 24hrs and also you would have a few blocks to walk from the downtown stop to your hotel. Traveling that late on a night in January - would definitely use a cab or airport shuttle. I am fairly adventuresome and not skittish but I would not walk around the perimeter of your hotel to try to find food. Might make a difference depending if there are others traveling with you but made it seem like you were alone. Also not sure if there are any activities going on that night but could be pretty empty and very ';city smart';. I am not familiar with sub/pizza shops near your hotel. Hopefully others will write in. Little Italy and Fells Point are close by - could pick up on your way to your hotel.
Baltimore for Late January
First, the Sheraton City Center is on Fayette very different from Lafayette. This is a business/commercial area and is very quiet a night with few late night dining options. Take a cab from the airport and ask the driver to stop for food on the way to the hotel. Federal Hill/South Baltimore or Little Italy are my suggestions too. Look in the MD forum for best Italian sub- just get them to leave the meat off.
thank you for the suggestions and I was going by a (bad) guess when I wrote address after a glance at the address.
