Sea Glass Hunt for a few hours?

Hi!

This weekend, I will be staying in the Chestertown, MD area for a wedding. My favorite hobby in the world is to sea glass hunt, though I rarely get to do it.

Can anyone recommend a particular beach on either the eastern or western shores of the Chesapeake where I can take a stroll and find some cool sea glass shards? I will only have a few hours and it would be such a great trip if I could bring some neat finds home with me....

Thanks!

I would try Betterton Beach - no guarantees. Lucky for you, it%26#39;s not too far from Chestertown. Betterton was an old-time ferry stop (before the Bridge was built) and is across the bay from Baltimore.

Thank you. Someone from the tourism dept in Kent County told me about that beach, too, but said they had beach cleanup last weekend, so they didn%26#39;t think it would be good. Your thoughts? Thanks!!

I really don%26#39;t have alot of good ideas here - partly because public ';beach'; access is limited - and there aren%26#39;t alot of sandy beaches along the bay. Check the tide tables for whn you will arrive. If you can gain access to a beach, say at a public launch ramp, for example, the beach in front of privately-owned land, is public to the high tide mark. You might ask the same people in Kent County about Beach access in Rock Hall or whether you might have any luck on the Eastern Neck National Wildlife refuge. I don%26#39;t know if there%26#39;s a beach on the refuge area you can reach, but I%26#39;m kind of looking for beaches across from Baltimore that might be a good candidate where things would wash up. Just guessing, really. It sounds like a neat hobby, I wish you good hunting!!

I know this is old but I thought I%26#39;d reply for future sea glass collectors:

-Rock Hall has fairly decent sea glass finds at low tide. Take Rt 20 all the way out, make a left %26amp; you%26#39;ll find it.

-Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge has been my best kept secret thus far: Boggles Wharf at low tide makes collecting look easy!!! :)

Happy hunting...
