That was a fun Sunfest weekend.

Had a great time this weekend. Got to Tidelands Carribean hotel at 12:30 and our room was ready. I was a tad bit nervous about the room after reading the reviews. The staff was great, the room big and clean and quiet.

Our friends stayed at Park Place and they really liked their room/hotel. We had a few ';welcome to OC'; drinks at the outdoor bar there at Park Place. The bartenders were great. Walked the boardwalk for awhile and people watched. Headed down to M.R. Ducks and enjoyed the view of the water.

I will say it was windy and cool. Saturday was even worse. The ocean looked very angry.

Did the arts and crafts thing a the inlet. Walked away with a new piece of art for the house. Our friends got a really nice handmade quilt.

Headed to Seacrets and got there about 2:30. It was the 1st time for our friends and they were amazed by the place. We sat at the boatbar and took it all in. The Jim Long band started playing after a couple of hours and we stayed for 1/2 theire set. By then all the adult beverages were taking their toll on us lol. Of course had to stop of at the merchandise area. Went home with 2 full bags of stuff. note to self....don%26#39;t purchase stuff when you have a healthy buzz going on.

Sunday we walked the beach for awhile, grabed some awesome fried oysters for breakfast and walked around the side streets for awhile. Then we all went to M.R. Ducks and watched the Skin%26#39;s game. Skin%26#39;s won....it was a great day.

Oh almost forgot. Hit Boardwalk Joe%26#39;s for breakfast. Had about a 10 min wait for a table, placed our order and it was at our table in less then 5 min!!!

I have never been served food that fast. The food is cheap and very tasty. When we were at Seacrets we ordered some app%26#39;s and they came in less then 10 min. Ordered steak and cheese subs and fries from Dough Roller, 10 min and the sub%26#39;s were surprisingly good.

Was really disappointed come Mon morn%26#39; when it was time to leave. The weather was friggin%26#39; awesome and there was no wind. Came so close to calling into work and taking an extra day.

That was a fun Sunfest weekend.

Now where you went wrong, flattop, was to not hit Seacrets on Sunday afternoon. Spectacular weather %26amp; the ';customer appreciation'; Pig Roast was even better this year with raw %26amp; steamed oysters included.

Plenty of eye candy as well on the water floats.

Got to watch one ';tipsy'; gal get the ';bum%26#39;s rush'; courtesy of the ';Peace Police.'; Then she moans she lost her purse so we all scoured the murky waters around the floats with no success...the lush probably left it back at the hotel.

That was a fun Sunfest weekend.

daddio, I tried so hard to talk our friends to go there Sunday. They weren%26#39;t having any part of it because of the bus system. They didn%26#39;t want to have to wait 30 min each time to be able to get on a bus.

Next year we%26#39;re going on our own and won%26#39;t have to worry about not making it to places we want to hit.

We also missed Seacrets Sunday, we hit the beach instead and then watched some football at Whiskers pub(a big Redskins nest)of course I had my mother- in-law along for the weekend so we sort of catered to her which was fine, we all had a great weekend in O.C.

OK - someone educate me. What is the bum%26#39;s rush from the peace police?

It%26#39;s the security guy%26#39;s in orange t-shirts at Seacrets.

I see. Well I will have to make sure to avoid them if we get to OC next summer.

flattop, Glad to hear you had a great time!

We unfortunately had to cancel our plans to attend Sunfest because of a family emergency, so we never made it down to enjoy it.

Hopefully we%26#39;ll make Springfest next year. Never been to that.

We checked out all the stands and once again just could not find anything that got us reaching for our wallets. I will be quick to add that I understand what expenses must be for the participants just to attend the show, let alone make their creations, so I%26#39;m not faulting their pricing.

I did see a few really nice items that were maybe worth the price for a special gift or a splurge for yourself. Food %26amp; drink prices were up a little from last year...$3.00 for a 12 oz. brewsk %26amp; $6.00-7.00 for a burger or sandwich.

However, I did see plenty of people spending money and carting around purchases, so I suppose the standholders had a decent response. The longest line I saw was composed of deep-pocketed Sunfesters willing to fork over $9.00 for a 6'; cheesesteak (or $14.00 for a 12';...WHEW!). I%26#39;d say that line was as long or longer than the one at Thrasher%26#39;s.

This was heartening to see since economisits are predicting a bleak holiday season for retailers.
