Four hours in Baltimore

We are from No. California and will be staying in Bethesda for 3 nights. My husband will be in a meeting until around 2pm on Friday and then we thought we%26#39;d jump in the car and head over to Baltimore. We%26#39;ve never been to the East Coast and just want to get a sense of Baltimore. I%26#39;ve researched the boards some and Fells Point sounds like what we had in mind. We%26#39;d like to walk around and get some seafood for dinner - not too pricy. Or just stop in somewhere for a drink and crabcakes. Any recs would be appreciated. Should we drive directly to Fells Point or would we get more out of going to inner harbor first and take a water taxi to Fells Point.

REally either way is OK but it might be nice to park at the inner harbor and take the taxi. It is as nice ride over to Fells Point. You should have a really nice evening. I like: John Steven Ltd on Thames St., Mezze,Bertha%26#39;s Mussels, Obrycki%26#39;s Crab house for a few. There are many pubs, restaurants there so you may just want to walk around and see what you like[ ask to see a menu to check if it is in your price range}. Certainly lots of places to get a drink!!

Glad you want to visit! But you should be aware of DC traffic. The ';rush hour'; out of DC - especially on Friday - starts about 3:00/3:30. Traveling from Bethesda by car - you will travel around the northern half of the DC beltway and then north on 95-The North/West side of the DC beltway is one of the most congested areas. Try to leave as early on Friday afternoon as possible. Fells Point is a fun destination. i think you will find it%26#39;s worth the drive. Hope you have good weather.

We did end up being able to leave Bethesda earlier and did miss the traffic, thank you. We really enjoyed the inner harbor area alot especially since my husband loves sailboats and I love to people watch. We walked to Fells Point and back before dark. It was an easy walk for us. Fells Point was very charming - like nothing we have out west! We stopped in to Duda%26#39;s Tavern for a beer and something to eat. I had the crabcake and husband had a steak sandwich. Very small portions, but we encountered this everywhere we went in Maryland. We must be big eaters out west! I want to also add how much we enjoyed the people of Maryland. Everyone we had contact with was especially helpful and approachable. We hope to come back some day, my husband would have loved to have seen a ball game there.

Anniediaz - Thanks for the report! So glad you enjoyed your visit!
