My husband and son are considering going to the Navy Temple game in a couple of weeks. If anyone could recommend where they should stay, I would really appreciate it. A decent hotel close to the stadium and maybe a place to grab dinner the night before.
Thank you.
Hotel for Football Game
The Sheraton has rooms for Saturday, Nov. 1 starting at $159.00. It is reasonably close to the stadium, and very close to the mall as well as several restaurants (mostly chains, but pretty good - Fuddrucker%26#39;s, Famous Daves, McCormick %26amp; Schmick, Copelands). If they want more upscale dining options, let us know - there%26#39;s are lots of choices in and around the Annapolis Area. Sheraton does offer a free shuttle, but I am not sure of the details.

If you have never been to Annapolis, it is quite a compact area as it pertains to the historic district, where many of the charming homes, boutiques, and eateries are. In this area, you will find four major hotels that may be offering some decent rates. Marriott waterfront (usually always expensive), O%26#39;Callaghan%26#39;s, Loew%26#39;s, and the brand new Westin Hotel.
The Navy Stadium is considered to be in ';West Annapolis';, which you can walk to. The last three hotels mentioned would be closer than the Marriott and Westin would be closest to the stadium.
All of these hotels are close to restaurants and other sites. There are also quite a few B%26amp;B%26#39;s in the historic district - check out discoverourtown.com/MD/…Lodging-1675.html
If you want to look on the outskirts, where prices may be lower but transportation will be needed, than check out properties near the Westgate Mall area. They include, Sheraton, Doubletree, Marriott Courtyard, Hilton Garden, etc. They are listed at the link above. Since it is near the mall, chain restaurants abound such as Romano%26#39;s Macaroni Grill, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Outback Steakhouse, Bertucci%26#39;s, Famous Dave%26#39;s etc.
Personally, if I could get a good rate, I would choose the Westin, a beautiful property on the fringe of the historic district w/many restaurants nearby. Carpaccio%26#39;s (Italian) and Fado%26#39;s (Irish Pub) and Morton%26#39;s steakhouse located right in the same complex as the hotel. Greystone Grill, is right across the street.
Thank you both for your responses. We went with the Westin as they have a promotion where second night you only have to pay your birth year. My husband is flying into BWI on Friday night arriving around 8 pm and then leaving sunday in the morning. He plans on having a tour of the Navy Academy and going to the football game on Saturday. Do you think he should rent a car or just take the super shuttle to and from the airport. My understanding is the navy academy is a reasonable walk from the Westin. Thank you.
I would skip the car. The stadium is about 1/2-3/4 mile from the hotel. I think a car would be a hindrance. If the hotel doesn%26#39;t have a downtown shuttle (check -many do) the harbor area is walkable from the Westin- even if he had a car, he would drive it about 1/2 mile to the parking garage, and then walk, anyway. As long as he is reasonably fit, he will be able to walk most anywhere he wants to go. Like everywhere else, be alert after dark and avoid walking alone- stick to the busy streets. I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;ll have a great time.
Thank you for all your help!
swmd, glad they still had the birth year promotion at the Westin. Hope they have a great time. Be sure to let us know how everything went! Happy travels.
