Advice for Wedding Guests driving on Bay Bridge in June

Hello,

We are planning a wedding in Cambridge, MD in June 2009 on a Saturday evening. If anyone has any advice for our guests who will be driving from Baltimore across the Bay Bridge, we%26#39;d appreciate it. The wedding will start at 4pm so we want to give them a realistic estimate of driving time (including cushion for traffic delays) etc..

All the difference in the world whether you%26#39;re talking early June or late June. And whether or not 4pm is a typo (you said ';evening'; in the same post, in my book 4 pm is late afternoon at best).

Weekly rentals and related traffic from the Western Shore usually turn over on Saturdays, but these don%26#39;t kick into high gear until the later part of the month. With check-ins in at the beaches not until the mid/late afternoon, you could easily find substantial delays at the bridge until, say, 2 pm.

To be fairly confident in making it to a 4 pm wedding in Cambridge in late June, I%26#39;d leave (downtown) Baltimore NLT 1:00. Later in the day or early in June, 1:30 would be more realistic.

Of course nothing is guaranteed--just one accident can mean you have a LOT of empty seats watching you tie the knot--so you may want to encourage everybody to come extra-early and have an extended cocktail hour beforehand.

Sorry for the confusion :) The wedding will actually begin at 4pm and run into Saturday evening. I think it%26#39;s safe to say we should tell folks to allow up to 3 hrs to get there...

Thanks for the advice!
