Kensington, MD in November

We are traveling to visit family in November. Having never been to the east coast, we%26#39;ve had difficulty determining a good quiet %26amp; safe hotel (under $100 a nite). Suggestions would be appreciated! We also planned to rent a car but have noticed some talk about a subway? We are flying into Dullies. Thank you in advance

Assuming you want to be accessible to Kensington, the closest recommendable hotels would be either the Bethesda Marriott (Pooks Hill Rd.) or one of these three hotels in downtown Silver Spring (make sure they%26#39;re in zip code 20910, and choose no others than these): Courtyard, Crowne Plaza or Hilton.

All these hotels would be about 10 minutes or so by car from Kensington. The ones in Silver Spring would also be walkable to the Metro subway, I believe the Marriott has a shuttle bus to the Metro. The ride into downtown DC to see the attractions from either is about 25 minutes.

You may want to rent a car only because the cost of the rental may be less expensive than other transportation options from and to Dulles. Plus it will make it easier to get you between your hotel and family, public transportation options are fairly limited.
