I am going out to Emmitsberg, flying into BWI (?) or Ronald Regan, per the EMI instructions. I had thought I might fly in on Friday and do some sightseeing Saturday and then go to Institute on Sunday afternoon and have rental car picked up by company.
Not sure I can do this, but was wondering what would be good to see and what hotels would be good. Not the Ritz but not motel 6 either.
Any insight greatly appreciated,

Coming to EMI, considering coming a couple days earlyTo be honest, there are very few places to stay in Emmitsburg. The only hotel is the Sleep Inn and Suites, which is a decent place to stay. It is a fairly new hotel that while it is nothing fancy or special, is clean and satisfactory. The hotel has a webpage at choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo…
Coming to EMI, considering coming a couple days earlySee the TA page on Gettysburg, PA, which is only about 15 minutes away with plenty of reasonably-priced hotels. The top few are very highly rated by your fellow TA users and are at least one step above the Motel 6/Super 8 caliber you%26#39;ll find closer to Emmitsburg.
While I%26#39;ve never stayed at any of the specific properties, there is a highly-rated Hilton Garden Inn. I%26#39;ve stayed at other HGIs and it sounds like what you%26#39;re looking for.
There%26#39;s also a highly-rated Country Inn %26amp; Suites which I%26#39;ve seen next to the outlet shopping center. Note that there is no sales tax on clothing in Pennsylvania (beats the likely 8 or so percent you%26#39;re paying back home).
i don%26#39;t know the town well, but it%26#39;s a beautiful area with some very nice hiking nearby at the catoctin mountains, cunningham falls state park, where camp david is located.
and the mother seton shrine is very pretty. i%26#39;m not even remotely religious (let alone catholic) but i found it to be interesting %26amp; beautiful.
The Country Inn and Suites in Gettysburg would be a good choice. It is located just off US 15 at the Gettysburg Village outlets. The hotel is very nice and a continental breakfast is served each morning. I believe that there is now a TGI Friday%26#39;s restaurant nearby. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff members are friendly and I think that this hotel would be nicer than the Sleep Inn even though it is not in Emmitsburg. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Just returned from the area and Emmitsburg is lovely...so close to Gettysburg and DC. Loved it. EMI is in a beautiful area, nice setting. The Ott house has great crabcakes and pubby atmosphere!
