Hi,
I%26#39;m coming to Baltimore at the end of October and have a couple of days when I thought I might hire a car and tour the state. I don%26#39;t want to return to Baltimore every night so, does anyone have any suggestions of what to see and where to go for a couple of days?
Many thanks
Andrew
Driving tour of Baltimore area
oooh, good question! let us think on it a bit!
i know i%26#39;ve always fantasized about taking an out-of-towner on a little driving tour...hasn%26#39;t happened yet.
from downtown baltimore, i%26#39;ve always thought to begin with a drive up charles street %26amp; then cross over to falls road...but where from there? %26amp; that was assuming we were headed toward my HOUSE...lord knows there are MANY other options LOL
let me (%26amp; everybody else) think on it a bit!
Driving tour of Baltimore areaand help us out here....exactly how long do you have to do this?
The eastern shore is nice. You could stay at a bed and breakfast, dine on the water. Much slower pace than Baltimore City. Check into St. Michaels, MD. Probably 1.5 hrs from the city?
Annapolis is another option. Or western MD.
I%26#39;ve heard it said that MD is the US in minature. Deep Creek lake area for the beautiful mountains and Cunningham Falls. The western shore for Annapolis and St. Mary%26#39;s county where the first settler%26#39;s arrived. The Eastern Shore for waterman communities and the Atlantic ocean. Enjoy your time in MD and please feel free to post specific questions.
When we travel and rent a car we cover A LOT of miles so we can try to see as much as possible. Not sure how ambitious you are !!! As previous writer states Maryland is America in minature so I would try to check out 2 very different areas. These are both trips I have taken as a day trip so I am not sending you on a trip I would not do myself. First day leave Baltimore and drive to Thurmont- visit Cunningham Falls, eat at the Cozy Restaurant, foliage should still be pretty, buy some apples, visit downtown Thurmont- good day! I would actually return to Baltimore [ or really any hotel in the area so your ride in the am is not so long}for the night. Next morning. drive east to St. Micheals, Oxford area- have good seafood lunch and/or dinner, great shopping, sightsee. Leave in the early evening , go to Annapolis and find a nice B+B to stay the night. In the morning walk to breakfast, sightsee in historic Annapolis area and then be on your way. I am sure others will have good ideas also.
anga, i like it...good plan!
wish the OP would give us an idea of how much time they have.
What do you like to do? Shopping? Eating/drinking? Outdoors?

St. Micheals - about 1.45 min. wwatertown, shops restaraunts, scenic drive
Ocean City is a resort town with a boardwalk and miles of Atlantic ocean. 2.5 hours away. scenic drive. You can spend several weeks in Ocean City if you try to do everthing there is to offer.
