Condo Reviews

We are a family of 8 + an infant looking to rent a condo, oceanfront, in Ocean City next July. Is there anywhere that reviews the various condos for rent?

OR does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks

Thre are so many to choose from, it really depends on budget and what amenities you like. CBVacations.com is a great site to check out with pictures and listings. It sounds as if you need a 3 bedroom unit, of a 2 bedroom with den. The golden sands has both, some units nicer that others. Elevators are very slow, but the ammenities the building has makes up for it. We usually try for a lower floor, and use the stairs alot. We also loke the Sea Watch. They have 2 bedrooms with a den, smaller square footage, but great layout and facilities. The Capri is right next to the Golden Sands, can use their pool deck. Has an indoor pool and game room that is nice. My friends have also stayed at the Pyramid, and the Century One. Enjoyed both. The only negative one for my friends was the Atlantis. The balonies are enclosed, so you cant sit out and enjoy the sound or sight of the beach. Then the are also the lowrises, further up the beach....so much to choose from, not enough vacation time!!!

Thank you so much for your advise. I see you stay at high rise condos quite a bit north of the Boardwalk. Opinons I%26#39;ve received said to stay near the Boardwlak with smaller children. We are going with a 10 year old, a 4 year old and a 2 year old (plus 6 adults). But it appears these condos are newer and have nice amenities. So what do you think? Are there things to do near these high rises? Is it a long ride to the Boardwalk area? What do you recommend.

Thanks again.

No matter where you stay, there will be something to do in the immediate area. There are mini-golf places practically every other block, restaurants are everywhere, as is shopping.

You will hear from people that will only stay on the Boardwalk and others who prefer to stay higher up.

I%26#39;ve never stayed on the Boardwalk, so I can%26#39;t offer an opinion directly about staying there, but I%26#39;ve stayed everywhere from 40th Street or so on up to near the Delaware line.

The trip down to the Inlet parking can be a bit long (depending on traffic), but how many times do you plan on going to the Boardwalk in a week? There is another amusement park around 33rd. And like I mentioned, mini-golf places are everywhere and there are also various places for go-karts.

The high-rises will offer more amenities that may come in handy if you happen to have a bad week, weather-wise. Most of those are found on the northern end of OC.

If you are not staying ocean front, and staying near the Boardwalk, make sure you understand how far of a walk you will have to the beach. With children and all the beach stuff, this could end up being quite a trip.

While the beach is wider near the Boardwalk, it may be almost too wide. On the northern end, if you are ocean front, you can keep your eye on things while you are eating lunch or whatever. With the wider beach down south, this would be more difficult. Someone else who has stayed on the Boardwalk might be able to help you determine when the walk to the ocean itself becomes less.

While you can rent online via CB Vacations, I%26#39;ve found that when you call, the people working there are friendly and really know the units, so they%26#39;ll be able to offer some help if you have other questions.

Good luck!

Northside park is also close to the high rises. It%26#39;s lovely. It%26#39;s on the bayside, but it%26#39;s a public park with ball parks, and a recreation center. There is a lovely walking area with a bridge that crosses over the water so you can feed the fish and ducks that swim there. There is also a pier that you can walk to the end of and just sit to watch the sun go down, or you can go crabbing. But I really dislike the high rises and generally stay mid town. We have stayed for years at the Sungate on 77th, the Jamaican Sun is next to it and looks nice....never stayed there. Try Holiday Real Estate%26#39;s website. They rate their units from 1 to 5 and have pictures both inside and out of the units. We%26#39;ve used them almost every year for the past 16 years.
