I would like know which would be the best location to travel to and from dc(not renting car) for a trip in january. I%26#39;ve booked the Loews in Annapolis and the Residence Inn Inner Harbor.
Also, would it be best to fly into BWI, DCA, Dulles?
Annapolis or Baltimore
without a car, baltimore would definitely be easier to get to.
%26amp; definitely BWI.
Annapolis or Baltimore
I should have a bit clearer in my question. I%26#39;m planning to be in DC for the Inauguration. The best hotel deals thus far are in Baltimore and Annapolis. Is Baltimore the best location for travel to DC?
I hope this is clearer.
Thanks.
yes. if you fly into BWI, it%26#39;s quick %26amp; easy to get to the inner harbor.....and a LOT easier to get to DC from baltimore than from annapolis without a car.
tubman is very good at explaining transportation details, i%26#39;m sure he%26#39;ll be happy to help.
';I%26#39;m planning to be in DC for the Inauguration. The best hotel deals thus far are in Baltimore and Annapolis. Is Baltimore the best location for travel to DC?';
In that context, yes. You will, however, be joining a ';lot'; of people in trying to get to Washington via public transportation that day, my advice is to go as early as you possibly can.
Check the MARC train schedules from Baltimore. Even though the ';Camden'; line is closer to downtown hotels, the ';Penn'; line is better imo because it makes fewer stops and has more frequent service. If you plan it right you may be able to find an express from Baltimore to Washington that only makes 1-2 stops.
Also check the schedule as the date gets closer as they may alter things due to the big event.

thanks so much evertone.
sorry, irish...i SHOULD have said ';tubman and irishfan are good at transportation details';...
my apologies, hon! i%26#39;m a bit befuddled these days.
There is no train or subway to DC from Annapolis. Would be easier to stay in Baltimore and take either the Amtrak or MARC train into DC. I am curious -is your trip to see Baltimore, DC or both? Do you need to stay in Baltimore or were you just using it as a ';homebase';? Were you going to be here weekdays or WE? This info would help. Also where are you coming from?
sorry- somehow I did not see all of the previous responses when I sent mine. I must need more coffee :)
While I agree Baltimore is probably the easiest, another option is the commuter bus line from Annapolis, there is a stop in front of the Lowes. One line goes to the metro station, another into DC. Downside is since it%26#39;s a commuter bus, times are limited, and if you miss the return, I%26#39;d imagine a cab from the closest metro stop (new carrolton) would be a pretty penny.
But, if you%26#39;re only going into DC for one day, it may work. (although you will have to pay for transport to the hotel to/from BWI)

You didn%26#39;t ask, but I thought that I would mention that the Henderson Wharf Hotel--look it up on the website--is consistently pristine, charming, with highly sound-proof rooms. The staff couldn%26#39;t be more helpful. They also have a very extensive continental breakfast.
And, as an aside, we found Loews in Ann. lacking in every which way--kinda dingy, albeit comfy beds, inept room service/housekeeping, and icky lobby.
The valet-ers, however, were really sweet and gave us water upon our return from running without our even asking.
Someone posted that there aren%26#39;t any fabulous hotels in Annapolis, and I think that if Loews is representative, it%26#39;s the truth.
