I%26#39;m looking for a resturant in Baltimore to host a small private party for 10 people for my father%26#39;s 80th birthday. We%26#39;ll have three children (ages 9-12) with us who are pretty well behaved at resturants. My father doesn%26#39;t like anything food-wise that is too different, a good steak or great pasta or chicken dish would make him real happy. I%26#39;m looking more for ambience, perhaps even a view. Everyplace I%26#39;ve tried calling does not have private rooms to accomodate a small party. we could sit in main area, but needs to be a location, not too loud, maybe with view of city. I%26#39;ve had Pisces suggested to me, but have never been there. We are not on any type of budget for this dinner, anyplace nice that could accomodate us only request is not anywhere too stuffy where the kids may feel uncomfortable. Maybe little Italy?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Small party for fathers 80th birthday
Rusty Scupper has a private rooms and private areas with great views. Staff is nice and food is fine for Father.
Nicks on Insular Dr has private room and serves more than seafood. View of boats outside.
Small party for fathers 80th birthday
I had a wedding shower during Sunday brunch in the private dining room at Pisces. It was wonderful. I think the children would be comfortable there because it is a hotel. I also had a small private party upstairs at Chiparelli%26#39;s that was excellent. I think Morton%26#39;s has a private dining room if you want a straight forward steak type experience. My suggestion is to call your favorite place, explain your situation and they can probably work something out for you. Often, restaurant have dining rooms or even the second floor closed if you aren%26#39;t eating on a Friday or Saturday night. With the economy, they will probably try to accommadate you.
Thanks for replies. I will check into all your suggestions. FYI-I did call Pisces, but turns out they only do brunch now and no dinners, which I thought was disappointing since they have such a spectacular night view of the city. thanks again!
Mccormick and Schmicks is a great place for a private party. This restaraunt actually has several separate rooms. They have valet parking. It is mainly a seafood restaraunt. They have meat and poultry dishes, I did not see pasta on the sample menu. The rooms I have seen do not have windows, does not mean there are none. If they do have private rooms with views, your view would be fantastic as they are water front at the inner harbor. I would also look into Roys, Chingali and the Charleston at inner harbor east. This is a much more convenient location for parking and getting to. I know Chingali%26#39;s has a water view. Roys does have private dining. All I know about the Charleston is they have excellent cuisine, high rating on this site. You will have to call for more details.
i think that Charleston isn%26#39;t probably the best place for children, although food is great, it is alittle snobby.
I would have to agree that Charleston (and Chingali for that matter) would not be good for children. Plus, their menus are inventive, which would probably not suit your fathers. Roys would work for children, but I doubt that you dad would like the menu (Hawaian fushion).
Try Flemings...I know they have semi private rooms off the main dining area. You will not have a city/water view from these rooms. The menu might be more conducive to your dad%26#39;s taste and your children will feel comfortable there.
The Bowman on Hartford Road, Pikesville, has a couple of nice party rooms about the size yo are looking for. Also has great food at not crazy prices.
If price really is no object, the Brass Elephant has a private room, but it may be a bit too stuffy for you.
Also,
There used to be a couple of rooms at the Belvedere Hotel (Call the Owl Bar to check it out.)
There used to be a wonderful room availabe at teh top of the Clarion Court (?) on the corner of Cathedral and Monument. Great view! Never cheap, but great. Not sure the status today.
Good luck!
Guy T.
