Baltimore, Hyatt hotel, to do

I am going to a convention 3/9/09 staying at the Hyatt in Baltimore at the harbour. There will be little time to do much after the convention convenes in the evening, however I must see some of the sights that are close by the hotel. Any ideas? Is it safe to walk about alone in the evening? Thanks

Just like any city, it%26#39;s always important to be aware of your surroundings, but with that said, you%26#39;re directly across from the harbor, which is super touristy/safe. lots of restaurants, shopping, attractions - have fun!

if you will be with some others, you may want to grab a cab and head to federal hill for a drink and dinner.

another ';eating %26amp; drinking'; option is Brewer%26#39;s Art, which is a micro brewery on Charles St. They have delicious beers - try the Resurection ale.

You can safely walk 4 blocks south on Light Street and be in Federal Hill (which I also recommend) I also think walking to the Inner Harbor East area and Little Italy is safe and about 6 blocks. If you take a cab for dinner, try Fells Point. Most museums close before dinner. The aquarium is open till 8 on Fridays and if your a morning person you could try walking over to Federal Hill for a beautiful view of the Harbor before the convention.

The best thing to do is get a water taxi ticket. Then you can safely travel between the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, Fells Point, Canton, etc without having to walk between neighborhoods at night. (I%26#39;d recommend exploring Federal Hill and Fells Point in particular.) This is the safest way to do it. I would NOT walk up to Brewer%26#39;s Art (this is in the Mt Vernon Neighborhood) from the Inner Harbor at night- take a cab!
