Off the Beaten Path Getaway: Crisfield

Crisfield offers tons of historical and heritage activities and is a small waterman fishing town that gives the visitor a feel that they have just stepped back into the 1950%26#39;s. Many of the homes are old victorians, and the streets are lined with massive oaks and town folk out and about. The Museums give an added feel of life at the turn of the century, the waterways and crab shanties whisper to a time past. The best State park resides in Crisfield (Janes Island State Park) where red-tailed hawks and bald eagles are easily seen. The daily boat rides from the Crisfield dock out to the islands (Tangier and Smith) offers additional adventures.

There are restaurants and gift shops and a great chocolate shop (Debbi%26#39;s Chocolate) that features daily specials and samples. The town is pretty relaxing and quiet until one of their many festivals hits and then the festivities are an adventure all their own. Especially don%26#39;t miss the boat docking contest - its really up close and personal in Crisfield. Sometimes you might even get to see a restored skipjack, majestic sails catching the wind, and the salt air-mist takes you away......

Wow, you should work for their Chamber of Commerce...if you don%26#39;t already, that is.

I stand corrected then. Thanks for your unbiased insight.

Used to go camping at Janes Island State park. A great place to camp and keep a boat. At least it was 20 years ago.

Still a nice place?
