restaurants near Convention Center

I searched the archives for this question, but most of the answers are several years old.

We%26#39;ll be parking in or near the convention center for an event at the end of February, and would like to be able to walk to dinner (since we would otherwise have to move several cars.)

We would like to find a good ethnic restaurant or seafood/grill, and would prefer to stay away from chain restaurants, or the Inner Harbor- one of those great places where the locals go! Any ideas? Price range flexible, but we won%26#39;t be dressed for something truly fancy.

You will be very near the convention center light rail stop. This will open up options for you. My husband and I ate at Tapas Teatro Cafe which is very near Penn Station. You can take the light rail north to the station, and then walk to 1711 North Charles Street. The menu features small plates and you can view it on their web site www.tapasteatro.com. We went there without reservations on Valentine%26#39;s Day, only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, and enjoyed a wonderful meal.

Light rail transportation is very inexpensive, $1.60 per ticket. Perhaps other posters can suggest other light rail destinations.

Take a 5 min cab ride to federal hill... cross street market is very casual - has sandwiches, crabcakes, raw oysters, sushi... Matsuri is a good sushi spot next door. On light street around the corner, you%26#39;ll find some small but tasty spots - ten-o-six (thai), blue agave mexican (www.blueagaverestaurant.com), Regis American Bistro www.regisamericanbistro.com.

For a bit more upscale but still casual enough to get away with jeans, Bicycle is one of my favorites. http://www.bicyclebistro.com/menu.htm

I second the federal hill recommendation........cross st market is great for seafood. If you have to stay put near the convention center, the Wharf Rat Pub across the sreet from it on Pratt is a good option

I agree with the suggestions above for Federal Hill. You can%26#39;t go wrong with any of them!

Federal hill is a good choice. If you like Italian, Little Italy is close by and has some fantastic choices.

I don%26#39;t want to cause a fight but Little Italy is overated. There are a few good restaurants but they can be pricey if that%26#39;s an issue for you. Most of the restaurants rest on past glory and have mediocre food and high prices. You can check out the reviews on tripadvisor.

I do agree with the Federal Hill comments. If you don%26#39;t mind walking in an urban enviroments then have fun and enjoy the scenery.

This is not in the Inner Harbor area but it%26#39;s about 15 to 20 minutes away in Greek Town, Ikaros! Great food, good portions and quaint. There are one or two Mexican eateries in that area but avoid them and go to Ikaros. They have a sample menu on their website. I%26#39;ve been eating there for over 20 years and would eat there every day if I could.

No need to ';start a fight';, you%26#39;re just expressing your opinion, that%26#39;s what the forums are for. :)

But I do want to point out that both you and the prior poster make general comments like '; Little Italy has some fantastic choices...'; and ';there are a few good restaurants...'; without naming any. And that doesn%26#39;t really help the OP or anyone else reading this thread in the future...

So help us out. Which restaurants have you enjoyed in Little Italy and can recommend? Or which would you recommend avoiding?

I guess you missed the part in my post that said suggested checking Tripadvisor reviews for Little Italy restaurants.

It takes little effort to do that.

Well sure it%26#39;s little effort to recommend a place or two that you%26#39;ve enjoyed, isn%26#39;t it? Or one to stay away from?

If every post on Tripadvisor just said ';check the reviews'; there wouldn%26#39;t be much of a point in having a forum! :)
