Offseason Bars Near 12th Street

I head to OC several times in the offseason to do some work on my condo before it get%26#39;s shown or rented for the summer. After a days work repairing and cleaning I look for a cold beverage or two. However, I usually have to drive but would rather walk (I know there%26#39;s a bus, but it%26#39;s cold outside). So I am looking for a good bar that%26#39;s within walking/crawling distance of 12th street. I%26#39;ve seen ';Pickles'; nearby but haven%26#39;t been there %26#39;cause the name kinda bothers me. Seems most club/bars in this area are closed for the season. I%26#39;d rather walk 10 to 20 blocks than drive. Any recommendations?

And, if you see me crawling the wrong way, point me towards 12th! Thanks.

This is funny. You own a condo and like a nice cold adult beverage but don%26#39;t know where the bars/taverns are? You should of bought a condo right beside the Cork bar or Snappers.

Let me help:

Reel in Dock Bar 14th st

Peppers Tavern 16th on boardwalk

Party Block on 17th st

Fish Tales 12th st and bayside ******

Bootys on 28th st

Buxty salty Dog Salon 27th

Brass Balls Salon 11th and boardwalk

there you go, hope this helps.

need any help on the condo let me know.

That%26#39;s a good list for the summer time tfunky, but I%26#39;m almost 100% sure the Reel in Dock Bar, Party Block, Fish Tales, Booty%26#39;s and Brass Balls are closed this time of year.

To the OP, try Pepper%26#39;s Tavern on 16th St., Bamboo%26#39;s on 9th Street and Pickle%26#39;s is fine too.

tfunky - I know it sounds sad, but even though I have some cold ones in the fridge, I like to treat myself well for a day%26#39;s labor. I usually stop at Smitty McGee%26#39;s on my way into OC and I like that place but it%26#39;s not close at all so looking for something close. I think most places like the party block, Brass Balls and the like are closed this time of year. Is FishTales open in winter? I%26#39;ll google around and see if I can find any open that you mentioned. I don%26#39;t get to use my condo in the summer, it has to pay for itself (and barely does, OC and county taxes are quite high). So I get to go up in the off season and fix what the summer kids broke. This year it is 2 doors (fist holes I believe) that I have to replace. Should have done it in October but was too busy. Think of any other places let me know.

Thanks.

mink66 - I type too slow. I agree, think most are closed. Is Pepper%26#39;s open? Always looks closed but it%26#39;s kinda hard to tell. Is Pickle%26#39;s a pizza joint? I don%26#39;t mind bar food if it%26#39;s edible and I usually do eat to offset the drinks. It%26#39;s pretty close so may try it too. Thanks.

No, it doesn%26#39;t sound sad I just thought it sounded a little funny. I know some if not all places I mentioned might be closed but I thought I toss a list out there of some close by spots. You might be forced to take the bus or walk a little further than you want to.

For what is worth, we were OC last weekend and Buxy%26#39;s was definitely open (had a couple of beers there) and Booty%26#39;s looked open (but I did not visit).

From the web sit for Fish Tales, they look open too.

Fish Tales definitely closes during the winter months. They have a closing party and everything.

Pickles is a good stop for a burger and beer, very casual. Peppers on 15th and the boards is a good basement bar. Buxy%26#39;s is kind of a sports bar with good cheesesteaks. I try out these three and hopefully you will find your spot.

I%26#39;m quite sure Buxy%26#39;s will be jumpin%26#39; next Sunday...Go Steelers!

If you go to Pepper%26#39;s and want something more than just a drink, you got to try their Jerk Chicken Quesadillas, they%26#39;re really good!!
