Baltimore Inner Harbor in January?

In your opinion, is the Baltimore experience nice in January or should we wait until Spring? We like to shop, go to museums, eat in native restaurants, that kind of thing.

Baltimore Inner Harbor in January?

Baltimore is great in January. It can be cold and windy in the harbor, but besides outdoor performers etc..., I think you will find the restaurants and shops to be the same as during the Spring.

Ultimately, I think it boils down to weather. And I would also not try to get a hotel room in Baltimore the weekend of MLK Day and the Inauguration as many people will be staying in Baltimore and going to DC for the Inauguration.

If you plan on walking around you may want to wait until spring however there are advantages to coming in Jan.

Traditionally, lines in museums, Science Center, Aquarium etc have much shorter lines. Many places to eat that have long lines in nice weather - you can walk in.

Either way I am sure you will enjoy your time in Balt!

i was there in mid-dec, cold and rainy, but we still had a great time. stayed at the hilton, and from there, one could walk quite far inside via skywalks. within the harbor area, sites are close together, so one can walk unless weater is truly horrible. cabs are easy to find.

YES. January is fine in Bmore. Weather could be anything below 60 degrees. We have been lucky with winters over the past few years. It has not been too harsh. Everything is open, people are out and about. It will be less crowded. Easier to get into restaraunts and there are tons of good ones between Canton to Federal Hill. Spring is wonderful weather but if you wait till after baseball season and there is a home game here it gets very crowded. Lots of out of towners come here to watch their home teams. Not to say dont come in the spring. It%26#39;s just much more crowded. You can still do just about everything in Jan that you can in spring, just bring coat, gloves and hat just in case it%26#39;s a cold day. If you come here in January you can still come in the spring too.

Walters Art Museum is great and not far from inner harbor area.

I%26#39;m staying in Annapolis Junction during the inauguration and I was thinking of escaping to Baltimore on the Sunday. Are you expecting bigger crowds that weekend?

I%26#39;m planning a trip to the Aquarium, and any advice on going, or places to eat right around there, would be great! I have an 11 year old boy, so something informal, but with local fare (crabs/seafood) would be great!

Thanks in advance for any insight.
