I plan to attend a meeting in Bethesda in late April. All the hotels inside Bethesda are so expensive. Are there any hotels that are just outside Bethesda and are nice and more reasonably priced. Thanks ahead.

You need to tell us what you consider ';reasonably priced'; and the dates of your visit, otherwise it%26#39;s impossible to answer. Will you have a car, or are you relying on public transportation?

Also, where in Bethesda is your meeting? Parts of Bethesda are not as easy to get to on Metro as others, so that would be a consideration.
A price of $200 or less will be reasonable to me. The meeting will be at the Natcher Auditorium, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland. I can rent a car if the hotel is within my price range. Otherwise, I will also be happy to take the Metro too.
You really need to provide the specific dates you%26#39;ll be coming to get an accurate answer.
Just for smiles, I put in travel dates of 4/27-4/30. With the exception of the American Inn, everything close by is %26gt; $200, as are hotels within 2-3 stops right along the same Metro line.
To come in under $200 during the week, you should be looking at the Rockville/Gaithersburg area. Most of the properties along I-270 are in the $100-$150 range. They are not first-tier Hiltons, Marriotts, etc., but they should be clean and comfortable (read the reviews here on TA) as they cater to a lot of business travelers in the biotech corridor.
Some have shuttle buses to the Shady Grove Metro station, from there it%26#39;s a 15-minute, $3.20 ride to NIH (Medical Center station). Or you could drive to NIH from this area in about 25 minutes during rush hour.
Specific hotels in the Rockville/Potomac/Gaithersburg area, as of this writing for the dates indicated above (via Kayak):
Red Roof Inn: $90
Homestead: $120
Comfort Inn: $122
Sleep Inn: $127
Bolger Hotel/Conference Center: $139
Best Western: $150
Chase Suites: $159
Crowne Plaza: $178
Towne Place Suites: $199
Thanks for all your suggestions. I usually post my comments on Tripadvisor and never realized that the TA community is so helpful in other ways. I will definitely look into those options. I intend to check into a hotel on April 29th and check out on May 1st.
The Sheraton Rockville in King Farm is nice and new. The room rates start at $189 plus taxes. They have a free suttle to the Shardy Grove Metro. They do have a sort of restaurant and bar though I haven%26#39;t been impressed with the food. You are within walking distance of a good Thai restaurant and Nick%26#39;s Chop House. Unless NIH is going to send you a pass to get on campus, I would recommend against a rental car. Since 9/11 security is really tight and getting through the gate in an unregistered car is a bit of a hassle.
