Hello. My husband and I are planning a trip to Deep Creek Lake over the Easter weekend this year (April 10-12).
What area is the best to stay in? We are planning on renting a home. We would like to be close to bike trails and walking paths, but we would still like the area in which we stay to be private and secluded.
Any other advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Also, do you recommend one rental company over another?
Thanks!
Where to stay at Deep Creek Lake in April?
Our family reunion is looking for rentals in Deep Creek too for a summer week. We have been looking at the 4 major agencies: Railey Mountain, Long %26amp; Foster, Taylor-Made, and Coldwell Banker Realty. Although I would say they are pretty comparable, check their admin rates, dep fees and policies, etc. We have found so far Railey seems to be on the more expensive side -- I was told they are the mgmt company there. We like the online-chat rooms (when they%26#39;re up!) for the first three because you can also print out the transcript to get things in writing. Coldwell, as I found out, has some outdated information...and they%26#39;re not good at responding to E-Mails about it. Carefully check over amenities and bedding as sometimes information is not correct or updated.
One problem we are running into is recv%26#39;g information that a rental property can not go over it%26#39;s maximum occupancy DURING THE DAY! That seems crazy to us that we can%26#39;t get together for lunch without prior approval from Garrett Co., but that%26#39;s what we are being told by the agencies. In fact one wants to charge us more because of this policy (Railey). Maybe somebody could clarify on that(?)
I%26#39;ve also looked at VRBO.com and other non-agency sites, although agents will also advertise on those websites, including Craiglist. It%26#39;s good to do Google search and comparisons on the same name properties.
Good luck on your search as in ours. We hope to end up renting in Deep Creek this summer!
