Gettysburg from Baltimore

Our family of 5 with kids 8,10, 12 will be staying in Baltimore on April 3rd and 4th because I have morning business meetings. We plan to leave late morning( 10 AM?) on one of those days to go to Gettysburg for a half day. Which day would be better, Friday or Saturday? How long is the drive and does the drive time matter on the different days? The other day, we would look around Baltimore.

If you leave @ 10:00 - the Drive won%26#39;t be much different Friday or Saturday - A late afternoon ride in that direction on a Friday would be congested

The ride will probably be around an hour %26amp; a half - from downtown Baltimore - Maybe a little less if you drive fast.

The last 20 miles is 2 lane Highway and you can get stuck behind slow traffic sometimes

Leaving at 10 a.m., I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll find much difference travel-time wise getting to Gettysburg on a Friday or Saturday.

Distance from the Harbor to Gettysburg is about 60 miles/90 minutes. Only 18 miles of the drive is on major highway, the rest is either two-lane rural or wider commercial highway loaded with traffic lights.

I%26#39;d lean towards doing Gettysburg on the Saturday because you may find the major Baltimore attractions a bit more manageable with smaller crowds on Friday vs. Saturday. It%26#39;s low season in Gettysburg and it should be as easily done on Saturday as it would be on Friday.
