Anniversary getaway close to Northern Virginia

have researched this subject but am not coming up with much. Husband and I celebrating first year anniversary in June. Looking for somewhere no more than a two hour drive from the Northern Virginia area for two nights. We love the beach and water, but summer peak season we would probably be best to stay away from that as we hate crowds. Looking for spotless accommodations with modern furnishings, a cool bar and jacuzzi tub. I have checked out Homestead, Keswick and such-we don%26#39;t like antiques or that type of decor. I came across a cool new hotel opening up at the National Harbor in Maryland called the Aloft which fits our style. We would also be interested in a private sunset boat trip. Checked out the Odyssey boat trip w/ dinner. Sounds nice, but could we find a romantic spot on that big boat for just us? I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks,

When Hubby and I were dating, I planned a fabulously romantic evening on the water - I don%26#39;t know if it is still available, but it was AWEsome! A private cruise around the Washington Harbor, while dinner was prepared below deck - seved al fresco as the sun was setting - Absolute perfection. The boat I believe was the Irish Mist, and I arranged it through the restaurant at the Gangplank marina. Very $$$ - I%26#39;m going to say about 400.00 + tip - 15 years ago. Another thought - how about Nemacolon?

Creekdweller this sounds perfect. I will try some internet searches with those to see if I can find anything. I have not heard of Nemacolon.

Thanks

Nemacolon is actually Nemacolin resort in PA. It is a 5-star getaway, www.nemacolin.com I have not been there, but I have heard great things. Also, perhaps the Inn at Perry Cabin - waterfront in St. Michaels - Soo romantic - and you can arrange a champagne sunset cruise for two in a classic italian runabout. They have bicycles for touring around St. Michaels, and for more adventurous sorts - you could bike to Belleview and take the ferry to Oxford. A fun fun day.
