National Harbor

Considering a first anniversary weekend here in June staying at the Aloft hotel (not yet opened). Thinking of doing the Odessey dinner cruise. Has anyone spent any time here to tell me if there will be enough to keep us occupied. Also, anyone familiar with the Aloft hotel?

Thanks

National Harbor

Aloft is a new spin off of the Starwood hotel group. Same people who own the Sheraton.

-I have done the Odyssey Cruise and it%26#39;s decent. The food isn%26#39;t the greatest but it%26#39;s all about the atmoshphere and the experience. It has better views than the Spirit of Washington. So it should be ok as long as you know that you aren%26#39;t getting 5 star food or service.

-The National Harbor should be nice for someone who lives nearby and just wants to get away for a weekend or evening. Once you get there in June most things will be open and the weather is nice so you can walk around the harbor and have lunch or another dinner on the pier/boardwalk thing out on the water.

There are a few art galleries there that are currently open now (www.nationalharbor.com), so you can check those out. Other than that you can also take a water taxi over to Old Town.

I live nearby and my husband and I will go there for a weekend away from the kids soon but don%26#39;t expect too much as I don%26#39;t want you to be disappointed, it%26#39;s just a nice little place to be.

Thanks. We don%26#39;t want a long drive as we will be going for a couple of nights. I thought the Odysey would be nice for a romantic evening, not so much for the food. We like the idea of staying at the Aloft and having access to the water taxi to Alexandria or Georgetown or just the National Harbor area-whatever we may be in the mood for. Hotel fits our style-very modern and cool looking. Prices aren%26#39;t bad either. Looks like more things are slowly opening up there. I appreciate your response.

I had seen the website for this speedboat-thanks for the suggestion. I think we may opt for the Odyssey dinner cruise instead not so much for the food, but romance alone on the top deck watching the view lit up a night.
