Jet ski rentals

I%26#39;m going to be in OC next week and was wondering who has the best Jet Ski rentals and riding area. This is my first time ever trying Jet Skis, so I%26#39;m looking for some advice.

Jet ski rentals

I would suggest finding a place that rents jet skis on the southern end of OC. I think all of them will guide you behind Assateague Island before turning you loose on your own. Going behind Assateague will give you a great chance of seeing the wild ponies too. Plus, I find the water to be a little calmer behind Assateague mostly because there isn%26#39;t as much other boat traffic. I think there is also a rental place directly on the inlet that leads you out into the ocean if conditions are good.

I%26#39;d stay away from the the mid-town locations (50th St. area), because they lead you out in the bay and tell you to stay in bounds in what I consider a relatively small riding area designated by the Rt. 90 bridge and a couple of bouys a few hundred yards south of the bridge. And like I said earlier, because of all the other boats, the water tends to be very choppy and will beat you to death by the end of your hours time.

Look in the local free papers for coupons. Also, you can usually get a better rate if you ride early in the morning or later in the day.

Jet ski rentals

I agree with mink66, stay away from the mid-town rentals because you have to stay in an area, which is small. It is better to rent from the southern end of town. Here are some links to try:

You could also go to http://www.ocean-city.com and scroll down to watersports and they will take you to a list of places where you can rent from. The two websites that I gave to you have there prices everything else.

Make sure to check out Assateague Island when you rent a jet ski because thats where the most amount of space is and it is a beautiful site. It is more open.

I just got home from OC. My husband and I took our kids to a jet ski rental downtown and it was amazing. The guys there said it was the first year that business was at that location (at first st where the old BJ%26#39;s restaurant used to be). We did not go behind assategue but we went to some huge area a little north. It was nice to not have to wait until a certain time to go out with a group, they sent us out right away and said that is what they always do. They also had a pet duck walking around that my kids enjoyed (a little different, but my kids loved it). We are going back to the beach for the fourth of July and made reservations to go parasailing with them. I hope it is as much fun as the jet skis!!! Downtown was definitely the way to go, we called a few places to check prices since there were a few around that area, the prices all beat the rentals uptown and they all seemed more friendly when we called them. I will report back after parasailing.

We rented jet ski%26#39;s from Inlet Sea Doo%26#39;s and it was terrible. They guided us onto a sand bar and were stuck there for the entire hour. The guide apologized and assured us it was not our fault. The owner came to help us off and was so rude. He yelled at the guides and us and then refused a refund or re-ride. He never even asked if we were okay or apologized. I would not reccommend them!

The best places to go Jet sking are in downtown Ocean City. I recommend Aqua Watersports on Dorchester Street formally part of (bayside rentals). My family has been renting with them for years, back when they were located in Shanty Town, and they run a very smooth operation. The prices of the downtown areas are about 10 to 15 dollars cheeper per hour for rentals. Many uptown locations also charge extra for gas. There are only two companies that take you behind assateague island which is the best place to ride in OC, hands down. those companies are Aqua Watersports and Inlet Sea doo. I would highly recommend the first company over the later (read other postings). No matter what any company says, it is a state law that guides go out with you. Although there are no buoys to ride around each company guides you to a riding area. The ones behind assateague are the biggest around 3 square miles. http://www.ocaqua.com is the website of the location on dorchester street. Where ever you decide to go make sure to book a reservation in advance! Happy 2009
