Free things to do in O.C.

How %26#39;bout some posts of your favorite FREE things to do in O.C. for folks who might be looking for a ';budget'; trip.

I%26#39;ll start!

~ The Shipwreck Museum! http://www.discoversea.com/index.html

This is my favorite suggestion, especially for a rainy day at the beach.

IT%26#39;s FREE!!!!!! When someone told me about this place I thought it would be some rinky dink place, but it is a REAL museum. It has some great stuff. Not only interesting for the kids, but also for the adults.

It%26#39;s in Fenwick, just look for Sea Shell City. The museum is upstairs. Don%26#39;t let the tourist shop scare you away! Go upstairs. You won%26#39;t be sorry.

We used to love going to Sundays in the Park with our younger kids. Music...room to roam and room to play. We would bring a pizza and camp out.

assateague island

beach

walk or sit on the boardwalk

swim at the hotel pool

Convention center sometimes has free activities

bon-fires on the beach

free concerts on the beach

Free? Lets see. One of our favorite things to do is just sit on the bench on the boards and people watch. We like to feed the seagulls and fly our kite. We go to Northside park and walk out the pier in the evenings to watch the sun go down. We also enjoy sitting on the bay behind the convention center and watching the jet skis and parasails and the sunsets and crabbing. I didn%26#39;t know about the shipwreck museum. I%26#39;m going to have to see that.

these are all great ideas!

i%26#39;m not so sure that assateague is FREE....

i could be wrong.

but as i recall, in order to park %26amp; look around, you have to enter either the state park or the national seashore, both of which have entrance fees of some sort per car.

probably cheap, but not free? correct me if i%26#39;m wrong.

Last year the town held movie nights on the beach, around 26ths street one or two nights a week. Also Sundaes in the park held at Northside Park( on Sundays), free concerts and other kiddie activities.

Yep. You can drive all over, except up to the beach for free. To enter the beach area, there is a fee. But the horses roam all over the free area too, so you%26#39;ll most likely see a few horses and other wildlife. Just be aware that there is horse dung on most of the roads and it%26#39;s hard to avoid.

';i%26#39;m not so sure that assateague is FREE.';

You can drive around assateague island and see the horse from your car. Off season, there is no park fee. In-season you need to pay a park fee to park and get on the beach .

cool. glad to hear it.

My two boys like to go for elevator rides in highrise hotels we are not staying in. Also, we like the tea time at the Dunes Manor, and enjoying it in the rocking chairs on their oceanfront patio. Free tea and crumpets every afternnon I think at 3 p.m.!!
