Best Baltimore hotel and crabcake experience

My wife and I are going on a weekend crab tasting excursion/romantic getaway to Baltimore in the spring. I%26#39;ve heard that Faidley%26#39;s and the Stoney Creek Inn have the best crabcakes around (correct me if I%26#39;m wrong) and would like to visit both though I know that the %26#39;ambience%26#39; isn%26#39;t the best and that%26#39;s okay since I%26#39;m hoping the hotel will provide that. Is there a nice, upscale hotel close to one or (better) both of these restaurants?

Lexington Market (faidleys) is in baltimore city and Stoney Creek Inn is outside of the city in pasadena/glen burnie area -

I think you%26#39;ll get more into your trip if you stay in baltimore and just make a lunch or dinner trip down to stoney creek. Look for hotels near the inner harbor or in harbor east.

Stoney Creek Inn -- hmmm. I live on the water a few miles from there, and have never eaten there or heard anyone recommend them for crab cakes. THey got a lot of free publicity from their recent show on the food network. Maybe I%26#39;ll stop in and try it - but it really is like a waterfront dive in a not so pretty part of town. Glen Burnie area is very blue collar, fairly dense suburb. Not a safety issue, just aesthetics. Could be a fun trip, with the right mindset, but definitely not an in-town location. That said, there are loads of restaurants in Baltimore that have good if not great crab cakes. My pick for best crab cakes, is not in Baltimore, but is at Timbuktu in the Annapolis Junction area. (Not to be confused with the beautiful town of Annapolis) Definitely not a tourist destination, but good crab cakes. If you search the forum for Crab Cakes, you%26#39;ll find several local Baltimore restaurants are consistently on the list. I think the mention of Stoney Creek Inn in your OP left most of the normal posters here kind of confused.

I went to Stony Creek Inn just a few weeks ago for the first time. They have the best cream of crab soup! I also had the chicken chesapeake and crab toast. (I can%26#39;t get enough of crabs). I would definitely recommend it. Since it was cold out they didn%26#39;t have the outside deck open but it is nice and homey inside.

All of the Inner Harbor hotels are close and walkable to Faidleys. The newest is the Hilton on Pratt St. Also there is the Hyatt, Brookshire,Intercontinental,Marriott Waterfront. You could also stay in Fells Point area which in my opinion is a more interesting area with smaller inns and B+B%26#39;s. There are very good restaurants there with excellent crabcakes- Kali%26#39;s Court, John Steven Ltd are 2 that I like. Go to the TA forum for Baltimore Crab cakes for more options. The number one pick this year again [ according to City Paper] is G+M%26#39;s in Linthicum- near the airport. They ship too!
