Baseball game in June

I want to plan a trip to Camden Yards to see a baseball game in June and I%26#39;m looking for help. Would it be less money to book a hotel near the airport and rent a car or should we book a hotel that is walking distance and just pay for a shuttle back and forth to the airport? Is there a secret place to stay where you don%26#39;t have to pay an arm and a leg but is walking distance to everything? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Stay downtown, the beauty of camden yards is that it%26#39;s right in the middle of the city, so you can walk outside after the game and you%26#39;re in the heart of all of the harbor activities and restaurants.

You can take a light rail from the airport to the downtown or cab from the airport (i think the cab rate is $35)... probably don%26#39;t need a rental car cause baltimore is pretty walkable, and anywhere that you%26#39;d want to go further than a walk would just be a couple dollars from the harbor.

Here%26#39;s the lightrail info

In terms of hotels, i%26#39;d just keep checking expedia/travelocity types of sites. There are always good deals in one hotel or another, just look for anything close to the harbor.

Yep, the Baltimore Hostel:

The cheapest place to stay is the Baltimore Hostel:

I%26#39;m going to assume you%26#39;re coming for a Red Sox game. If so, you%26#39;ll be greeted with higher-than-average hotel rates at the inner harbor hotels. They tend to book up quickly, too when the sox are in town. It%26#39;s still possible to get a deal.

Take a look at the rates of the cheaper inner harbor hotels. I really think you%26#39;ll have a better time staying downtown (inner harbor) and walking to everything. If you just plan on exploring the harbor, aquarium, etc and going to baseball games - you won%26#39;t need a car. Once you factor in how much you%26#39;d have to pay to park at the ballpark and downtown...you may find it%26#39;s not too much more to just stay in the inner harbor.

i agree with jersey...

see what kind of price you can get at the holiday inn. we stayed there last time we went to a night game, %26amp; it wasn%26#39;t bad. VERY close to the yards, %26amp; not a bad walk down to the harbor.

Can%26#39;t beat the Hampton Inn @ Camden Yards- right next door to the stadium {a homerun ball could hit your window- just kidding!] Average price in June $150/night on weekends. Was not sure what your idea of affordable was.

Thanks to all who have responded. There is so much helpful information out there in Trip Advisor land.

My son%26#39;s Marine Corps buddy has a good friend who works at the Hilton Baltimore so we are checking that out. We are interested in the Executive package because it says it has rooms facing the field. Anybody out there have any thoughts or opinions on that?

I did like the looks of the Hampton Inn too so thanks for that information.

The Hilton has rooms overlooking field...problem is..the hotel has taken away the city view inside the park including essentially the Bromo Seltzer tower. It has changed the wind patterns and the hotel is ugly, ugly, ugly. Sorry, to be negative, but sad for the best park in baseball to lose part of the ambience.

There is so much to do and see in this area within walking distance that you do not need a car. You can easily make a long weekend of your stay.

Another option is the Harbor East area. It is new, new hotels and great restaraunts. It%26#39;s is withn walking distance of Camden Yards and a scenic walk at that. Anything DECENT along the harbor and within waking distance to CY is going to be about $150 and up. There is a Days Inn Inner Harbor that is very close to CY and Inner Harbor. But for a few dollars more if I were staying a weekened in this part of Baltimore, I would go for the Harbor East area. If you watch the rates closely you may be able to catch a deal in Harbor East.

Hi Baybuff,

I understand about these buildings spoiling the views. It seems to be happening everywhere.

I am unfamilar with this park. Where exactly is the Hilton. If you are at home plate looking out is it behind you?

Thanks
