Good restaurant near Baltimore International Airport

We are looking for recommendations for a good restaurant (not picky on type) near Baltimore International Airport. Looking for something easily accessible with good food and atmosphere.

Good restaurant near Baltimore International Airport

The silence here is deafening - LOL! While the County exec has great plans to make the airport area a destination ';aerotropolis'; - it certainly isn%26#39;t quite that yet. In the immediate area, I think your best bet would be to go to a restaurant in one of the pricier hotels in the vicinity. Most of the hotels are grouped together, so getting from one to another is quite easy. Other than that, I think you might consider going into Baltimore (easy via light rail) which has many, many options that would fit the bill.

';Easily Accesible'; by...rental car? Taxi? Hotel shuttle?

There is good Mexican food at Los Portales near the airport. And G%26amp;M is famous for their crabcakes, not too far away.

I have to second G%26amp;M Restaurant. It%26#39;s very close by, easily found and accessible, and the crab cakes are some of the finest anywhere.

Yeah, I know alot of people swear by G %26amp; M%26#39;s crab cakes, - I think they%26#39;re overrated, personally, but the poster asked for a place with nice atmoshphere? I guess everyone has different tastes, but I wouldn%26#39;t put G %26amp; M in that category. It%26#39;s more of a neighbood kind of place - that can be great fun, too, - depends on what you%26#39;re looking for. Timbuktu has better crab cakes (IMO) and is also easy to get to from the Airport, but still not what I would call an upscale kind of place.

'; but the poster asked for a place with nice atmoshphere? I guess everyone has different tastes, but I wouldn%26#39;t put G %26amp; M in that category. ';

Oh, I agree, I missed that - I was focused on the ';not picky'; part, but they DID say they wanted a nice atmosphere...in which case I can%26#39;t really think of anything around the airport that would qualify!

  • Getting around Baltimore

Am in town just after xmas for the last Ravens home game. We are staying on W Lombard St. How safe or easy is it to walk to the Stadium from there? Or is there a better way?

    Any help appreciated.

    Getting around Baltimore

If you%26#39;re on W. Lombard I%26#39;m going to guess it%26#39;s the Holiday Inn?

You would be walking to and from the stadium with thousands of other people, with tons of traffic in the street as well. About a 15 minute walk.

Thanks, you got it. Looking forward to it.

    the wire

hello all, im from liverpool, england and im a massive fan of the tv series the wire.baltimore reminds me alot of my home city and i was wondering if they do any tours associated with the show.all the best ...dave

    the wire

I too am a HUGE fan of ';The Wire'; and consider it the best show that has ever aired on televison.

I don%26#39;t know if there is a guided tour of places from ';The Wire'; but the Baltimore Museum of Industry has an exhibit featuring local scences from the show. Check out this weblink:

    http://www.thebmi.org/index.cfm/cID/674

I can recommend one place to visit and that is Faidley%26#39;s in Lexington Market. In season 2, McNulty and his boys ';shadowed'; Stringer Bell while walking through the market and in Season 4, Omar was enjoying fish he bought from Faidley%26#39;s while on a stakeout of Marlo%26#39;s gang.

I can HIGHLY recommend getting a broiled lump crabcake from Faidley%26#39;s, you won%26#39;t be disappointed.

No commercial tours AFAIK. I suspect the demand is somewhat limited given the neighborhoods involved.

The show ';Homicide,'; another popular series shot in Baltimore in the %26#39;90s, never had its own tour, but some of the locations were pointed out by generic tour guides in parts of the city like Fells Point. It%26#39;s doubtful any commercial tours will just happen to be going through The Wire%26#39;s neighborhoods.

But there is good news for the determined. Here%26#39;s an article, self-guided tour and map from Baltimore%26#39;s City Paper:

    thanks alot...dave

  • This weekend's weather

Hi, planning to come to Baltimore this weekend but I am wondering if I should postpone it due to the weather. It%26#39;s our first time in Baltimore and we were looking forward to walking around and seeing the sights. Any idea how bad the rain will be there?

    This weekend's weather

it%26#39;s so hard to say...sometimes they predict it %26amp; it doesn%26#39;t come.

we%26#39;re a bit northwest of the city and are personally EXPECTING a pretty wet %26amp; crummy weekend but ya never know!

    This weekend's weather

It seems the forecast has changed a bit. If you are expecting a rain free trip, that probably won%26#39;t happen. However, the deluge of rain that was predicted seems to have now been changed to sporadic showers and occassional thundershowers. Winds may still be a bit stiff, but the gusts they were predicting has not happened here yet.

    The Brampton Inn

The Brampton Inn is located in Chestertown, Maryland in Kent County. My husband and I have stayed here several times as it is a short drive and wonderful getaway from Philadelphia. Both the common rooms and the individual rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The food at both breakfast and tea is delicious. There are always choices such as egg dishes as well as sweeter entrees such as french toast. The muffins are the best. Michael and Danielle are the very best innkeepers I have come across. They are warm and helpful, but never intrusive. The town of Chestertown offers good restaurants (The Imperial Inn is good for brunch and dinner), cute shops (I never miss the independently owned bookstore as well as the gift shop, Twigs and Teacups)and is a pleasure to walk around. I%26#39;ve been on house tours which are also very interesting. Last year we were there just after Thanksgiving and watched Santa Claus come to town in the fire truck -- the culmination of a parade. I highly recommend spending some time in this area and staying at the Brampton.

How to get from Megabus to downtown?

Hi all. I%26#39;m considering taking the Megabus from NYC for a trip to Baltimore soon because it%26#39;s just so darn cheap. ($13!)

But the darn thing doesn%26#39;t stop in Baltimore. It seems to stop at a park and ride in White Marsh. So how do I get to Baltimore from there? I looked at the schedule for the MTA express buses, and they seem to run only during rush hour.

    Thanks.

How to get from Megabus to downtown?

You have to take the local, #15 from White March to downtown. And at about 75 minutes for the trip, it truly is a ';local';...
